Karachi 28/3/2013: Bolo Bhi is thrilled to announce that we have joined the Global Network Initiative (GNI), a multi-stakeholder group of companies, civil society organizations (including human rights and press freedom groups), investors and academics, who have created a collaborative approach to protect and advance freedom of expression and privacy in the ICT sector. (See GNI’s statement: Bolo Bhi joins GNI here).
GNI provides resources for ICT companies to help them address difficult issues related to freedom of expression and privacy that they may face anywhere in the world. GNI has created a framework of principles and a confidential, collaborative approach to working through challenges of corporate responsibility in the ICT sector.
Bolo Bhi strongly believes that a participatory approach that involves all stakeholders is key to open access. Being part of a global coalition will be incredibly helpful to our work for digital rights in Pakistan. As a member of GNI, we make a fundamental commitment to promote the adoption of laws, policies and practices that protect free flow of information and privacy.
We are incredibly honoured to join the esteemed network of academics, civil society organizations and multinational corporations working to advance free flow of information and protect user privacy.
