Karachi, 19/05/14: MQM Senator Nasreen Jalil has written to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif urging him to lift the ban on YouTube.
Ms Jalil first wrote a letter to the PM on April 24, 2014 stating the ban on YouTube was of great concern to citizens of Pakistan. She mentioned the Senate’s Functional Committee on Human Rights passed a unanimous resolution to lift the ban on the video-sharing website.

In a follow-up letter sent to the PM on May 16, 2014, she said after her letter in April, the National Assembly too had unanimously passed a resolution to lift the ban on YouTube.
Ms Jalil reiterated that “no other country except Pakistan still has a ban on YouTube, which has denied Pakistanis an easily accessible source of knowledge and information.” Citing the introduction of 3G and 4G in Pakistan, she noted Pakistan is moving “towards faster communication services, revolutionizing and advancing the IT sector,” and that it only makes sense to lift the ban on YouTube.
